Where the games differ
Scrabble and Words With Friends part ways on a lot of mid-value consonants. B, C and M are worth more in Words With Friends, while H and Y are worth more in Scrabble. The J is the biggest single gap: 8 points in Scrabble, 10 in both Words With Friends and Wordfeud.
This is why a single “best word” answer is misleading. Our unscrambler scores every word separately for each game and shows you the best play for the one you are actually playing.
What about board multipliers?
All values here are face value. Double letter, triple letter, double word and triple word squares multiply on top, and the bonus for using all seven tiles is a further 50 points in Scrabble and 35 in Words With Friends. Since those depend on where you place the word, we show the face value and leave the placement to you.
Frequently asked questions
How many points is each letter worth in Scrabble?
The ten most common letters — A, E, I, O, U, L, N, S, T and R — are worth 1 point each. D and G are 2; B, C, M and P are 3; F, H, V, W and Y are 4; K is 5; J and X are 8; and Q and Z are worth 10 each. The full table above lists every letter for all three games.
What are the highest-scoring letters?
In Scrabble, Q and Z are the most valuable at 10 points each, followed by J and X at 8. They're worth the most because they're the hardest to play, so landing one on a bonus square is where big scores come from.
Are Words With Friends letter values the same as Scrabble?
No — several letters differ, which is why the table highlights the disagreements in amber. For example J is worth 10 in Words With Friends but 8 in Scrabble, and mid-value consonants like B, C and M are worth more in Words With Friends. Always score for the game you're actually playing.
What is a blank tile worth?
Zero points. A blank can stand in for any letter, which makes it extremely useful for completing a big word — you just don't earn the value of the letter it represents.
Do these values include double and triple squares?
No — every value here is the plain face value of the tile. Double-letter, triple-letter, double-word and triple-word squares multiply on top depending on where you place the word, and using all seven tiles adds a bonus of 50 points in Scrabble and 35 in Words With Friends.
