Built for the rank you actually want

Answers stay hidden behind a tap, so you can reveal just the pangrams when you’re one word short of Genius, or open the full list when you’re done for the day. Every word shows its point value and the rank thresholds are calculated for the exact puzzle.

How close is it to the official answers?

Very close. We use the public-domain ENABLE word list, which the New York Times’ curated list mostly agrees with. Where they differ you might see an extra valid word or two — never a wrong one. Looking for anagrams instead? Try the word unscrambler.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Spelling Bee solver work?

Enter the seven letters from today's puzzle and mark which one is the center letter. We check them against a dictionary of over 170,000 words and return every word that is at least four letters, uses only those seven letters, and contains the center letter — grouped by length, with pangrams highlighted.

Will these exactly match the New York Times answers?

Very closely, but not always perfectly. The Times uses a smaller, hand-curated word list, so we may show a valid dictionary word they excluded, or occasionally miss one they added. We show every legitimate word from our list and mark the pangrams, which is what you need to reach Genius.

What is a pangram?

A pangram is a word that uses all seven letters at least once. Every Spelling Bee has at least one, and each pangram is worth a 7-point bonus on top of its length, so finding them is the fastest route up the rank ladder.

How is Spelling Bee scored?

Four-letter words are worth 1 point. Longer words score one point per letter. Pangrams earn an extra 7 points. The Genius rank is 70% of the total points available in the puzzle.
